London september 2009

Lies and I were in London. We joined the I Knit Weekender and had lots of fun. We knitted, and we talked and we bought some nice yarns – I added some beautiful greens and teals/turquoises to my stash. I really enjoyed London. We stayed in Hotel Ashley, which was not quite what it said, but nice enough and, more important, it was near the tube and buses to bring us everywhere we wanted. It was a pity Circle Line and District Line were both closed for the weekend but that made us ingeniously. I met Ysolda and loved to give her a little present. I even was a model for Nancy Marchant’s beautiful designs in brioche stitch (in december her book will come out!) and hit the catwalk. Funny thing: this way I discovered that barets look good on me – so I know what to knit next.

I finished my ‘Chocolate on the rock socks’ and clue 2 on the Nancy Bush Mystery Sock (of which I made a very obscure photo). I made my targets. We went to Tate Modern, and I saw Material Gestures and Poetry and Dream. We spent quite some time in Waterstone’s: we ate on the fifth floor with a beautiful view over London: 5th View. Best food of the weekend, and yet not expensive. With one of the shop assistants I had a ‘punny’ search for Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere. An appropriate read for the flight back. And now: to work fastly!!!
