A splash of coloursMy birthday seems to last a week this year, today thanks to my Secret Pal 10. She sent me a small mountain of parcels, wrapped in delicate blue paper. A small heavy paper envelop had my name on it and ‘(open last!)’. I’m a good girl, so I put it aside. The contents of the parcels almost took my breath away. There was a bar of wonderful olive soap from Neal’s Yard Remedies. Love it. Another parcel contained two zippered étuis embellished with a ribbon with knitting hands. In it were little green stitchmarkers and two sets of small bamboo DPN’s. My plastic étui ended up in the rubbish bin. I wasn’t finished yet. I  unpacked Nancy Bush’s Knitting Vintage Socks. Now I have all her books. Thank you pal! Still there was more. In the last parcel I found a colour explosion: 3 hanks in green (my name: mountain meadow), green blue (Siberia) and purple (Mookerhei). If I say they are gorgeous, I speak in euphemisms. And then, finally I was allowed to open the little envelop. In it was a card with a small embroidered birthday cake and nice words. And… and it says: “The yarn is merino wool, hand dyed by me…”. Dear secret pal, thank you, thank you so much. You are a colour sorceress. Now I have only two wishes. The first is the ability to knit faster. The second is something innocent that bounds me to the house for, say 4 weeks. Thank god for holidays. With secret pals like mine you need them more than ever. 🙂
