‘Our’ SP10 hostess is Bobbi and she is a ‘nosey Nelly’… She asks us to answer all kind of questions. But, fair enough, she offers something in return that’s definitely worthwhile: who doesn’t want to win Socks that Rock yarn? So here we go.
1) How old were you when you learned how to knit?
Very young. I must have been 7 or 8 and I remember exactly what is was that we had to knit: an oven cloth. With extreme fine needles for a child, US 0 or 2 mm and light blue cotton we had to do 4 rows 4 k and 4 p, 4 rows 4 p and 4 k etc. The finished cloth got a crocheted picot in pink. Yek! It was far too complicated for me and till now I can see (in my memory) the mistakes I made, the tight grubby yarn and the dropped stitches. I think my mother finished it, ‘cause for years I remember seeing the things (yes, there were 2!) hanging in the kitchen.
2) Who taught you?
I was in a girls’ school that was part of a convent, so I guess I learned to knit from the nun who taught fancywork. I don’t remember her name. That sure is a sign, because I do remember the name of some other nuns.

Hey Yvonne –
I can always send you some STR!! Let me know what colorway you want!!
It seems that 7 was a popular age for learning in our group. Thanks for playing!
