Once I had a secret pal who was at that time a young, talented and beginning designer. She still is young and very talented, but not beginning anymore: Ysolda Teague is quite a name in the knitting world. This august I finished her Ishbel [Ravelry link]. And loved it. This is the small one and you can be sure that I will make the bigger one.
I also finished the Sleekit Mitts [Ravelry link], designed by Star Rabinowitz. Most of them I knitted in Switzerland and I wished many a cold evening that they were ready. But no, finishing happened when it was like an oven and it was even too hot for making a good picture.
Star gave me permission to translate the pattern for the Yahoo Sokkenbreigroep, where they also want to knit mitts and mittens. I had some trouble with the translation of ‘Sleekit’, but suddenly I came across the word ‘sjijk’. And that’s what they are called now: Sjijke Mitaines (try your Amsterdam tongue). Mitaines have a long history as you can find on this beautiful website by the Rijksmuseum. I love them! They are sophisticated and practical at the same time.
Work is busy. Very busy. That’s why I enjoy my free time more than ever. And there is a lot that makes me glad. I went to an evening with Nancy Bush. This was so wonderful. That’s why I can’t wait to start the mystery sock Nancy designed. It’s the september/october project by Sock Knitter’s Anonymous [Ravelry link] and the mystery sock must be knitted in yellow (not really my favourite colour). I was so lucky to find this lemon yellow at Moonwise.
And there is more: in two weeks Lies and I will leave for London to the I Knit weekend. Yes.ย That will lighten two weeks of hard work. I love my life!

Love your Ishbel! Hope to see you at Iknit ๐
Many of my friends are making Ishbel right now. Yours is beautiful. And I even like that shade of yellow–looking forward to seeing socks from it!
Wow, I love your Ishbel! (I put it in my favorites on ravelry). I have bought some yellow yarn too – being a sock addict and all lol – can’t wait to see all the yellow socks in September. ๐
Mooi, leuk en geweldig!
Naar Londen met Lies, leuker kan niet! ๐
Wat brei jij mรณรณi, zo regelmatig en keurig, super. Een genoegen om jouw breisels te zien
Dat ziet er lekker warm en behaaglijk uit. Nu het koude weer nog.
Ziet er goed uit. Volgens mij hebben jullie het leuk gehad in Londen.
