Ishbel

Once I had a secret pal who was at that time a young, talented and beginning designer. She still is young and very talented, but not beginning anymore: Ysolda Teague is quite a name in the knitting world. This august I finished her Ishbel [Ravelry link]. And loved it. This is the small one and you can be sure that I will make the bigger one.

Sleekit Mitts

I also finished the Sleekit Mitts [Ravelry link], designed by Star Rabinowitz. Most of them I knitted in Switzerland and I wished many a cold evening that they were ready. But no, finishing happened when it was like an oven and it was even too hot for making a good picture.

Star gave me permission to translate the pattern for the Yahoo Sokkenbreigroep, where they also want to knit mitts and mittens. I had some trouble with the translation of ‘Sleekit’, but suddenly I came across the word ‘sjijk’. And that’s what they are called now: Sjijke Mitaines (try your Amsterdam tongue). Mitaines have a long history as you can find on this beautiful website by the Rijksmuseum. I love them! They are sophisticated and practical at the same time.

Lemonmellowyellow

Work is busy. Very busy. That’s why I enjoy my free time more than ever. And there is a lot that makes me glad. I went to an evening with Nancy Bush. This was so wonderful. That’s why I can’t wait to start the mystery sock Nancy designed. It’s the september/october project by Sock Knitter’s Anonymous [Ravelry link] and the mystery sock must be knitted in yellow (not really my favourite colour). I was so lucky to find this lemon yellow at Moonwise.

And there is more: in two weeks Lies and I will leave for London to the I Knit weekend. Yes.ย  That will lighten two weeks of hard work. I love my life!

Leuk? Deel dit dan:
