And what a day we had! We were sitting in the shade of the big trees. We enjoyed Cassandra’s stories about the Sock Summit (and admired jealously all the fab yarn she bought). We loved Cinzia’s home made jam – Cinzia is from Sicily, where they invented the real cucina. Zwaalie wore her beautiful ‘first cardigan’ (actually too warm weather) and showed gorgeous shawls. We saw Claudia finish her hat and we complimented Alex on her new socks. Nancy works on such a beautiful brioche-lace project (that’s new, new, new!), that you can only give it a French name (I will send it to you!). I started Ysolda’s Ishbel and got totally addicted to the pattern.
Yes, I’m back.

We’ve been away for well over 4 weeks. We camped for 3 whole weeks on Camping Plauns in Pontresina in Switzerland. A great camping surrounded by impressive nature. It was wonderful to hear the marmots whistle again, to smell the mountain air and to feel grass under your feet. I climbed Mount Pers, I walked to the Boval Hütte on my own and set a personal record and I walked the ‘Gletscherweg‘ from Bergstation Diavolezza to Morteratsch.

We had all kind of weather: sunny days, warm days, but also a lot of rain ánd snow. But living on 1890 meters means that sitting in front of your tent enjoying a nice and warm evening is only a dream. So we drove to Italy. We stayed two days in the Appennino Reggiano on Camping Il Faggio. We had a campsite for us alone. We drove on to Florence, quite the opposite on Camping Panoramico. Oh my, it was hot in Italy. But we roamed the city, sometimes with Italian icecream (yummie), visited some museums, we had lovely lunches and diners, sometimes great quality and tradition for an unbelievable price: Palle Doro. I bought a great bag (which is not at all difficult in Florence with bags on every marketplace) and I fell hopelessly in love with this guy David by Donatello. On our way back we spend a day and a night on Camping Tahiti, which we called Tahiti Prison because of all the rules and regulations and, not to forgot, the pink wristband they forced us to wear.

But: we had our lovely warm evenings in front of the tent with a limoncello. Mark my words: the new trendy drink! Now, back to work, back to normal life. If there is a job somewhere in the world in which you can be on holiday for ever, I will apply for it. I’m a real holiday pro, you see.

Another PicKnit in the Westerpark was the outcome of the Amsterdam KIP Day 2009. And what a day we had!
