Me and a girl named Anju…

AnjuI planned to do serious knitting: knit Mart’s sweater and a cardigan for a little girl. And I have been knitting those but not all the time. This little pocket pixie came along. I knitted it and as soon as I gave her eyes and a mouth she started to ask for more.

So, meet Anju…dressed to party and to finish this year and have a feasty new 2009.

I wish you all tonight a wonderful evening with beautiful fireworks, sparkling drinks, all the people you love, nice music and a great view on 2009.
That is just what we are going to have in the Bimhuis with the Red Cinema.

And Anju stays at home until I find her little black boots.

Happy New Year.

A song I love…

Joetjoep (Dutch for YouTube) sometimes is such a wonder. I found this: a very young Jacques Brel who sings Madeleine. I love this song, wish I had that optimism… Enjoy!

Merry Mad Weaver Christmas

Mad Weaver SocksMerry Christmas to all of you! Hope you have wonderful days with all the ones you love! Let us hope the world keeps quiet too, at least for two days, well make it four, include the week end. I just finished my Mad Trinidad Weaver Socks. They look very complicated, but if you follow the pattern, it’s a rather fun knit. They warm my wooden snowman… soon they will warm feet.

Coraline, holidays, yarnmess

Holidays! Two weeks long I can decide for myself how to spend my time. Oh yes, some work is on my desk but at home you work faster.

Have been knitting. I have finished a very beautiful present and because it is a present you won’t see it here. She might see it. Mitts are great knits and I plan to make the Sleekit Mitts. You first have to wind a skein into a ‘cake’. Believe me, though I have by now all the right equipment I still manage to get a bit of spaghetti in the end. Well, waiting for computer processes my hands are busy…
Coraline cover
Something was buzzing in the knitscene… she wrote about the writer, she also named one of her top patterns Coraline. On several blogs (f.i. the Knitty blog) peculiar but beautifully made boxes were shown. There was excitement in the air. But about what? Something about a film about a book. I ordered the book and I read it. Couldn’t stop. Imagine: yesterday I preferred waiting and reading in the lobby of the Muziektheater instead of watching The Nutcracker to finish the book. You see?!
I found Neil Gaiman’s website. On top of it I finally could enter the Coraline Website, which didn’t succeed earlier (may be you must have read the book, why not?). They are turning the book into a film and really, really I was stunned! Though knitting and sewing can be found in the book in finding Coraline’s room on the website I grabbed at last the knitting connection . My reward is a beautiful pattern. Go there and find out for yourself! I had a great Coraline exploration.
