Si, si, si!

Si, we said yes! It was a wonderful day. It almost didn’t rain and there were a lot of people. I felt almost famous. The wedding ceremony was as we wanted it: a laugh, a small tear and fast. And though the Wim T. Schippers Chamber is now about 21 years old there were still people who didn’t know it has a merry go round. A marry go round in this case. This was fun!

We had a lovely informal afternoon party at Open. The Wedding Cake was beautiful and the one little bite I had tasted deliciously. Well, we will have our own party later at De Konditorei of De Taart van mijn Tante. De Prosecco was sparkling gold. The company was merry and gay!

And then there was this surprise. This unbelievably touching and wonderful surprise. 62 knitters created a blanket for me. Yvon Storm in the Attic dyed the softest Blue Faced Leicester + Alpaca in the most beautiful colour green you ever saw. It’s like a fresh mountain meadow in spring. Thank you, dear namesake, you did a great job. Froukje, Lies & Emile did the organising and kept the secret awfully secret. It was great. Thank you all knitters… you all did a great job. I was so so moved…
You can see it for yourself on YouTube. Thank you all…again.

Next day we left for Paris. We were so tired. The most exciting thing we did was reading in the Parc du Luxembourg and buying some music and - very French - an ‘Agenda de l’Enseignant’.
We are back, I have been working now since Monday and the newly weds have temporarely been separated: DH (lol) is in Germany, I think. So there finally was some time to blog. And to knit. Which is what I’ll do tonight. Finish things. For example. To blog more.

Wedding & Cake

chocolate love

My hair is done. My purple shoes feel new but comfortable enough. I bought beautiful stockings. My dress still fits, though it could have been better (not possible to run with a brace). Everything is arranged. Amazing, what started as a small idea now will be a real wedding, with a lot of guests, a super chocolate wedding cake (from De Taart van mijn Tante), a bouquet and rings. And my arm is healed. Yeah, it’s exactly six weeks ago.

I humbly ask the weather gods for some hours without rain and some sun. Just a few hours. Please. After tomorrow we’ll leave for Paris (of course). Monday life is getting back to normal again.

Arm Pride & Gay Pride & City/Mayor Pride

Last Friday was Dr. McDreamy Day again… I had to go to the hospital for an arm check. I went home with positive news. It’s getting better, even healed, and I have to exercise my arm again. I lost a lot of strenght. Remarkable in just 3,5 weeks. It’s only sweet embraceble me during the night (pity, pity…) and when I go outside. So yesterday it was still me in my disguise as the bionic woman, watching the Gay Pride Parade 2008. It was gay in all respects, everybody got in a sunny mood, was swinging and laughing. Unbelievable how many people came to see the Parade. And really, I was so proud on our city, our mayor (in the picture, he was right in front of me ), all those Amsterdam people who made the Parade one big party. Next year though, I would love to see more little swinging choreographies on all those colourful boats with all those colourful people.

And now, I go on doing my exercises: I am allowed to knit again!!! Oh, and by the way, has anybody any suggestion where I left my box with buttons? It’s silver with metallic blue spots…
