There are two blogs by two ladies I read with pleasure. I  don’t know them personally, so sometimes I mix them up. It doesn’t help if they start to do the same things. She did a nice flickr thing and she copied it. I copy them, because it is so nice.

I’m sorry for all the photographers, but in the middle of making this log Vista crashed so I lost their names etc.

We were in Rome. And I wished I was still in Rome. I had never thought that Rome was such a lovely city with lots of flowers and green. We definitely have to go back ’cause we missed the most. Would you expect Vatican City to be closed on Sundays? We didn’t, but it is. And we wanted to go to Villa Borghese, but we were too late to make a reservation.

We had a wonderful hotel - Internouno - with 24 hours free internet (but Rome is so sparkling, no time to make a blog :-)) and a small kitchen. It was a very small room, but it was very complete. The hotel was situated in a quiet neighbourhood and with buses we were in no time where we wanted to be. We enjoyed a tour at the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum. Next day we visited the Galleria Doria Pamphilj. That was so remarkable. In an old palazzo that sure needs a serious restoration were hundreds and hundreds of famous paintings and copies of famous paintings. What to think about a Caravaggio in one of your rooms? Or having a bust or two of your uncle the pope made by Bernini? The audiotour was recorded by the owner, who still lives there now and then.

We loved our Roman holiday. And of course it was way too short. We plan a trip to Italy this summer, but we also planned to marry on 20082008, so we’ll  see if this succeeds. I still have to find my dress. Yes. And of course I knit. A nice little ‘pull’ for a nice little babyboy. And on our way to Rome I started the Victory socks, a pattern from the Jo-Ann’s sock book.

Finally: another two weeks before it’s summer holiday. I am longing for a few weeks without daily schoolproblems. Just organising the wedding, knitting and enjoying my ‘fiancé’ and the nice weather.

Well, summer knitting goals. Yes. She invented it. I am joining. Not for the prices, but for finishing. I want to finish things. New and old. What?

2. Sitcom Chic - a good holiday project with her.

3. Panoplie du petit Finn - a bit a melancholy pattern for a wee little boy. Explain later. Only on Ravelry. No photos yet.

4. Devan (new, new!!!) for Guido

5. Victory Sock by Jo An (also new, new, starting on the plane tomorrow).

Well, these are  my projects and it is quite something for a slow knitter like me. Now I’m off to Rome, Italy.

I love receiving parcels so I joined the Mystery Theme Swap: you mention themes you like (Paris, music, green, you name it), you are connected to someone and you exchange gifts. Your pal is not a mystery, but the theme is. My pal was Alix Saucy Minx and out of all the things I love she has chosen ‘Wishes from the USA’.

So now I’m totally happy with Harmony sock needles in three sizes, lovely handmade soap, little correspondence cards, eucalan in different scents, honey for my tea, a hand salve in a great little box, lavender incense, lip balm, a beautiful pattern for the Luna Moth Shawl (from Barbare Walker’s -A treasury of knitting pattern’s- ) and 2 skeins of Knit Picks Bare (which I really wanted badly - merino and silk yeah!!!). But you know what I like most of all what Alix send? Lavender Dryer Bags.
Because I now have a dryer for the first time of my life and it’s great. But I so much miss the scent of fresh laundry. Oh yes, I’m so old fashioned. Thank you Alix, you have really spoiled me with all those well chosen gifts.

Vakbonden, politieke partijen… ze krijgen ternauwernood nieuwe leden. Laat staan jonge leden. Lid worden van een omroepvereniging doet ook alleen de oude garde nog maar. Zo iemand als ik. Die dus trouwhartig alle lilliputters steunt die volgens haar moeten blijven. Ook gewoon lilliputter moeten blijven. Maar nee, Den Haag in haar oneindige wijsheid heeft anders beslist (wat was het opkomstpercentage ook alweer voor dit kabinet?). Zo moet LLink, de kleinste groenste omroep, aan het eind van het jaar 150.000 leden hebben, anders is het exit. Dit geldt ook voor andere kleine omroepen zoals BNN of Max, maar voor de eerste doen anderen weer hun best en met de laatste heb ik niets. Llink daarentegen, breekt op veel manieren een lans voor praktisch idealisme op een leuke manier. Ze zijn dagelijks duurzaam. Daar heb je wat aan en volgens mij zou dat een van de taken van de publieke omroep moeten zijn. Kom op, lieve bezoekers, koop zaterdag een tijdschriftje minder en houd Llink in beeld. Kost haast niets (5,73). Krijg je meer dan een goed gevoel voor terug. Voorlopig maak ik ongegeneerde reclame voor ze.
