Last week the third and last package of my secret pal arrived. It was heavy and it rattled. I know already she lives in Finland but this time you could see it from a great distance. Moem. Yes Moem was all over the box. I’m scandalously ignorant about this creature. They look very friendly but as far as I know they can be monsters. Is there someone who can help me out? The contents of the box were stunning. And of course there was the revealing card. My pal was Heidi from Finland. She has a blog and she is active on Ravelry and she found me all these lovely things. A wonderful Cherry Tree Hill skein. Feels like warm feet in winter. A great unknown star for me: Dazzle, a 4 ply sock yarn from the Natural Dye Studio. In green. Yes. Green. And surprise, surprise: Tofutsies, with soysilk and chitin (made from shrimp and crab shells!). Thank you pal, you knew how much I wanted this.

Quite a lot, isn’t it? But I have this really awesome pal! So there was even more in the box. In it I found the Holiday issue of Vogue Knitting. Yeah!!!!! I love it. And my pal knows how much I love to knit socks, that why she also sent me More Sensational Socks by Charlene Schurch. And I love it. While knitting I can enjoy the scent of Baked Apple Candles. I’ll save those for the Xmas Holidays.

We hebben een Hollandse Sokkenbreigroep en ik vroeg me af waarom wij niet, zoals andere lijsten, een Nederlandse samenbreisok konden hebben. Temeer daar niet alle leden de Engelse patronen kunnen begrijpen. Niet afvragen maar doen! De eerste sok was een vertaling van een ontwerp van Char van de Sockamaniacs: de Kort-door-de-bochtsok (kddb-sok). Succes. Het november/december 2007 ontwerp komt van eigen bodem. Lies ontwierp de Spiegelsokken. Zij heeft de turquoise gebreid en ik breide een maisgele met een gouden draadje: Sonnenstrahl van Ewas Sockenwolle.

We have this Dutch sock knitters group on Yahoo. I started to organize knitalongs also because not everybody understands English patterns. The first sock was a design by Char of Sockamaniacs: the Out of Orbit sock. Success! The sock for November/December 2007 is Dutch Design. Lies created the Mirror Socks. She knitted the turquoise ones and I knitted the sunny yellow with a golden thread: Sonnenstrahl by Ewas Sockenwolle.

Natuurlijk ben ik dol op alle televisiekoks. En Jamie vind ik een lekker joch. Maar mijn absolute favoriet is Andy McDonald.
McDonalds Kitchen is het topprogramma van de klein-maar-dapper-omroep Llink. Mijn liefde begon met Andy’s recept voor geroosterde wortelen - een goed onderkomen voor een bos bospeen. Samen met Bas Westerweel maakt Andy groentenrecepten met sterallures. Geen vlees, geen vis. ‘Koken in McDonald’s Kitchen’ is een kookboek om te hebben. Twee vliegen in één klap: help Llink, word lid en krijg het boek gratis in je bus. Top arrangement.

McDonald’s Kitchen is a Dutch television program from a very, very small and aware channel: Llink. I love ‘chefs’, I dig Jamie, but Andy McDonald is my all time favourite. It started with his recipe for roasted bunched carrots. If you want something with vegetables, you should consult Andy. Llink offers his cookery book in exchange for a membership. I didn’t have to think twice. Happily cooking without fish or meat.

In een onbewaakt ogenblik had ik ‘ja’ gezegd op het managen van de vrijwilligers op de dag der dagen: de tweede SnB dag op 3 november. Dat was een beetje druk. Maar wel heel leuk. Lees al die blogs maar eens (moet je ze wel zelf zoeken). Tussendoor deed ik nog een Moebius workshop bij haar. Eitje. Later nog de sokkenworkshop bij Yarnissima, maar veel te moe. In tegenstelling tot vele anderen niet zo veel gekocht. Iets prachtigs voor een ruil en een heerlijke streng groen, paars wit bij Yvon. Die streng wil snel worden gebreid, want die valt alsmaar uit elkaar. Dat was dan weer dat. Dank Carla, Hilly en Janet, het was een geweldige dag.

Ondertussen werd ik getagt door Sanne en kreeg een award van Kate. Mijn antwoorden komen hieronder in het Engels.

In a rash moment I had promised to manage the voluntary workers on the National SnB Day on November 3rd. It was demanding, but rewarding. 
Between times I followed the Moebius workshop with her. Piece of cake. Later on I tried the sockworkshop with Yarnissima, but by that time I was too tired. Unlike many others I didn’t buy that much. Something luxurous and beautiful for a swap and wonderful Yvon Yarn. The hank wants to be knitted soon, because it disintegrates all the time. Up to SnB 2008. Thanks Carla, Hilly and Janet, it was a great day.

In the mean time I was tagged by Sanne and Kate rewarded me with an award. Kate wrote that she is proud and happy that someone likes to read her blog. And so am I.
