You know, it makes you feel kind of special: my secret pal is the young and (very!) talented Ysolda Teague. She designed and made the beautiful Arisaig and she herself is the model. I have been roaming on her website for a long time. I think I will start to make the Cloud Bolero. But ‘du moment’ she starts to sell the pattern for the Briar Rose I’m going to buy it and, even worse, I’ll knit it with Noro. This is the first time I ever want to knit something with Noro. Ysolda sent me the book ‘One Skein’ with 3 little different skeins … Rowan Tapestry, Rowan Bamboo Soft and Lana Grossa Airwool. I’ll take book and skeins with me on my holiday to play. She also sent me a wonderful bar of Grapefruit & Shea Butter Massage Soap (carefully made in Scotland, where she lives) and a strawberry tape measure for centimetres and inches!

SP 10 is finished and that also means that I revealed myself. Amber welcome to this blog. It was great to spoil you!

Of de duivel ermee speelt…het is al stervensdruk op het werk en dan komt je vrijetijdsbesteding ook nog eens met werk. Natuurlijk is het allemaal leuk, maar het is ook allemaal veel. Dus was het hier héél, héél stil. Maar ik schreef mooie dingen. Het nieuwe balletseizoen bij Het Nationaal Ballet opent straks met het Hans van Manen Festival. Daar schreef ik niet over. Maar: als je ooit een fan was van Clint Farha moet je even klikken.
Alsof het nog niet genoeg is komen er grote romantische balletten aan: Coppelia, Romeo & Julia� en Sleeping Beauty. In al die balletten zitten karakterrollen. De koning, de koningin, grootvader, grootmoeder, noem maar op. Ik interviewde twee (ex-)dansers (bestaan niet) die deze rollen al heel, heel lang spelen: Leve de koning en koningin. Bij Raimondo kun je bovendien fantastisch trainen (dat deed ik vroeger en wie weet…)!
Het Sleeping Beauty filmpje op de Nationaal Ballet site laat twee feeën zien verwikkeld in een gesprek. Deze bijzondere balletmime is het onderwerp van het tweede artikel -� De kunst van het gebaar - waar de scène uit dit filmpje van alle kanten wordt belicht. Onder meer door Peter Wright en de twee eerste feeën ooit.

For pleasure (yes!) I write for the Magazine of the Dutch National Ballet. And because I was assigned for two articles it was very quiet in this corner. I interviewed two (ex)dancers (don’t exist) who are very experienced in� character roles like the king and queen. The second article is about mime in ballet. You can find them on my website, but unfortunately they are in Dutch. There are, however, some nice pictures.

 Je maakt de envelop open en een veertje ontsnapt…Dat is het begin. Je bevrijdt twee kleine strengen wol… en dan… je had al zo’n idee dat de kleuren in het echt beter waren dan op de website. Maar zo explosief? Ja, dat is Wollmeise! Cool. Echt cool. Moet je proberen. Claudia is ook cool. Verzendkosten eveneens.

Nooit geweten dat het aan het eind van het schooljaar zo idioot druk kon zijn. Studenten studeren af (ik ook:-), gaan over, schrijven protestbrieven over nieuwe dingen in het nieuwe jaar, handleidingen, taakverdelingen, nieuwe minor, dagje uit. Teveel om op te noemen. Het breien schiet er bij in. Af en toe wat pennetjes. Met deze heerlijke wol die ik van Ewa heb gekregen - geen flauw benul wat het is. Het is zacht en zachtrose met een klein glittertje. Ik brei de snowflakesok van deze soksamenbreigroep. Heerlijke sofasokken. ‘t Is een cadeautje. Maar ja, voor wie, hè?

Did you know that the end of a schoolyear was this tremendously hectic? I didn’t. Students graduate (me too:-), move up, write letters of protest against new things in the new year, workbooks, assignment of tasks, new course, a day out with my team…to name but a few! Hardly time to knit. Now and then some rows. With this lovely yarn Ewa gave me. No idea what it is. It’s soft and light pink with a small sparkle. I knit the snowflakesock, which is the KAL from this group. Lovely sofasocks. It’s a present. Yes, but for whom?

Weet je nog dat babytruitje dat de Fransen een brassière noemen en dat open is aan de achterkant? Hier is de eigenaar… schattig, toch? ‘t Mutsje is van haar. Ik ga gauw een qua kleur wel passend mutsje breien!
