Zumba & widow for a week

Way back, may be it was 1985, someone from the Caribbean started salsa lessons in Amsterdam. I acted promptly and joined. Oh, it were very few people, pardon, women, and to learn how to dance with a partner we danced with the teacher in turns. I shouldn’t be surprised if this was the first salsa class in the Netherlands. Being classical trained I had a lot of trouble to learn but once I got it I couldn’t be stopped anymore.  I loved it… but, somehow I always have partners who can’t dance, so that’s the way it is.
Till last week. I saw a zumba lesson on the news (yes, the news…can’t help it). Immediately after the item I start googling and found a gym with zumba lessons. Went there, and loved it. And, you know, those salsa steps are still in my feet. Isn’t that remarkable?

In the mean time partner is in Taiwan (not really a salsa part of the world) doing conferential things and making nice pictures to show me (and you) the Taiwan world and he twitters. Modern technology makes it easy to stay in touch. All the same I miss him and that’s why I like my new gym membership even more. Besides zumba I did pilates and… ow, ouch, yow bodyshape. That meant aching muscles for two days. It’s better now. Thank you. Tomorrow another class!

Train spotting

 Worlds apart

I thought it was an exotic thing: taking the train from Amsterdam CS to Moskwa. And I loved the combination on the information panel: the small Dutch village and the Russian capital. It’s a nice game, coming home from work pretending going there, listening to the announcements in the station, acting disappointed that a reservation is necessary. But, guess what… this train leaves every day on the same time and is not even very expensive. It’s called the City Night Line/Euro Night and it brings you in two nights in Moskwa. If I leave tomorrow 19.03 I will arrive 04.10.08, 10:26 in Moskva Belorusskaja. That’s serious knitting time…

I work, I run, I knit…

My sp spoils me
Well, don’t ask me what is the matter, ’cause I don’t know. I don’t get my pictures uploaded. But there is always Flickr! Life as a married working woman is even busier than before… is it really only two weeks ago? In the meantime my SP12 send me a beautiful package. Wrapped in a Greek sea coloured scarf I found the lovely book ‘Lace Style’. Thank you, SP, you know you made me very happy.
I started again with a running course and yes, that means training 3 times a week. Once with the group and twice on your own. Did you know that I use calories in those 3 trainings equivalent to a whole day eating? That’s amazing, isn’t it?
Sitcom Chic I have been knitting! I finished my SitCom Chic. She helped me with it. It was a nice day with a nice result. I still have to block it. I also finished the Panoplie, a pattern of the French Droguerie. It is nice.
Panoplie du petit Finn

And now I have to run… in another way. In a few hours I leave for the I Knit Day 2008 with her. And I still have to pack all my things. See you next week!

Technische vaardigheden / Knitting techniques

Lekker bezig. Dus.

To start with: hallo SP11, welcome to my blog. The answers for the SP-Questionnaire you find here.
Blogging almost every day and suddenly a few days silence … no, work hasn’t started yet. I’m learning techniques. A small camping holiday has fallen through, time for new things. I.have.to.make.my.SP10’s Briar Rose. So I’m exercising with the circular needle on Knitty’s Sitcom Chic. I’m not disappointing myself and I like the knitting of endless rows more than I would have thought. Toe ups on two circulars is the other new technique. I do not yet control the magic cast on, but well, just a bit more exercising. Last but not least: I try to make a sock pattern for the Dutch sockknittersgroup. How cool is that? So, doing fine!

Vlindervrij / Free as a butterfly

‘…and now, for the first time in your working life, go and enjoy your six weeks off’, she wrote yesterday. Now. (Almost) Ready. But I’m (all) stuffed up. This is of course meant to get me into a sleeping and knitting mood. I’ll manage. This beautiful butterfly choosed to be on my balcony as a freedom symbol. On the fourth floor. I didn’t even know butterflies flew that high.
